Living in a patriarchal society has traditionally brought many challenges with it. Somewhere along the way, the balance of feminine and masculine left the building! There have been many women affected by an over-blast of testosterone at some stage of their lives. I too have been impacted in my earlier years by the energy of the aggressive masculine condition of its time, made worse by economic stress, reduced work opportunity and a world changing so quickly. The result was a deep wariness of males and their intentions.
In becoming a parent of three boys with the addition of three nephews, all of whom mean the world to me, I began to learn about masculine energy in a more helpful way. Boys are hilarious and nonsensical with a natural urge towards fun. They are easy to navigate in communications once you understand that life is generally simplistic for them. There is much for women to learn from males that can help to make life less complex and stressful. Females have a natural tendency to over complicate things at times and a male view will frequently cut to the chase.
In coming to understand these gifts my boys brought to me, I began to view the other fifty percent of the population with more warmth and appreciation, and certainly without my previous bias. That’s when even more magic began. I began to develop friendships with males outside of my family. The realisation that these male friends were compassionate, good men did not escape me. With fresh eyes, I could see that the world had indeed begun its changes into more loving intentions. All around me, men are walking their tiny babies in pushers while Mum rests at home and putting up their daughter‘s hair into ballet buns. Our menfolk are softer and kind, making effort to honour the feminine.
In emphasis, I was stunned with the most powerful vision in my recent meditation. Nine knight like males, glowing with white light stepped in front of me, facing outwards in a semi-circle of protection holding swords. I recognised each one. These men, my protectors and supporters are all different but share a common denominator. Each of these men are kind, integral, strong, honest, quietly watching out and wanting the best for me. In reading this, they will know who they are. I feel blessed and know that it is men of a different society that may have caused me damage but without a doubt, it is these men and the men in my family that have completely and powerfully healed me. They demand nothing yet quietly value me and my efforts. They have brought me peace and delight in our friendships. They are warm, healthy males with their masculine and feminine energies in the perfect balance. I thank each one for their respect. It seems to me that there is indeed a new age of balance developing between the masculine and the feminine, in turn leading the way for other men. Beautiful.
